Final note on stolen wedding ring

The thief who stole my wedding ring out of a locked locker in SMU gym sold it to a local pawn shop. The pawn shop has already sold it to a scrap metal dealer for $27. Dang.

The criminal apparently confessed to everything. He has charges stemming from Plano (theft of a Rolex watch), Arlington, and SMU. Dallas might reopen a cold case related to him, too. He should be in jail for at least a decade.

The SMU Daily Campus had two articles about this: Oct. 7 (original report) and Nov. 10 (thief arrested).

One thing I just learned from the SMU police inspector is that shops are eager to clean your rings for a reason. They earn a good deal by selling the the gold that flakes off during the cleaning.
